In 1978, there were two different types of tires being used.  WS6 cars used the brand new Polysteel Goodyear radial.  The other tires was the 'Steel Belted Radial'.  For Goodyear, that is called the Custom Tread.  This tire was introduced in 1975 and it was a tread pattern dictated by GM.  All of the tires that had 'Steel Belted Radial' had the same tread pattern.  Size on those tires was GR70-15.  Feel free to contact me with questions.  My cell is 816-654-3400.

Firestone was one of the vendors in 78.  Roger...do we have the warranty for the Firestone tires?  I know we have Goodyear.

Correct.  Firestone, Uniroyal, and Goodyear all made the same tire.  The tread was the same on all of them.

I found a Forestone warranty at the Natz,  I thought I found one for you at the PackRd swap last year.

You may have, I've forgotten.

My 73 Camaro came with uniroyal tire paws.  They were via ply tires.  Steel belted radials made a huge difference on that car.

Current sizes for Eagle GT's available are 215/65/15 and 255/60/15.  The first size is for F and G body GM's in the 80's.  The 255/60 was the Wide tire option for the '80-82 'Vette.

Eagle ST's were never an OEM tire.  These were the second generation of generic replacement radials (Wingfoot HP were the first).  The Eagle ST's lasted a long time and were favorites for a lot of people.  The last of the Eagle ST were built around 1993.  So the next time you see someone at a local car show or cruise in, think that the newest that tire can be is 23 year old.

The Eagle GT's were the 3rd generation of performance OEM tires.
