My old Birds
« on: January 12, 2021, 03:06:04 PM »
I don't presently own a Firebird, I have owned about 20 in the past, the 1st 2 cars I ever bought were both Firebirds, a 1979 Formula with a 301 4bbl & 4-speed with 2.42 posi rear gears, and a 1984 T/A 305 H/O 4-speed manual. The couple I still have pictures of are my recently Sold 69 Sprint, with a Stroked OHC-6 (301 CI) T-5 manual and 4.11 rear gears.

The only other Bird I have pictures of on my HD is the 1997 Firebird Convertible 3.8 V6 5-Speed manual 3.23 posi. It had the V6 performance package so it had rear disc brakes & dual cat back exhaust. It was a fun daily driver in the good weather months. I sold it about 6 years ago when I started Looking for a V8 Solstice.

Ok Burd here is one of my Non Birds 2006 Mallet Solstice #024, LS2 V8, when bought still had the original 5-speed manual Trans, had to swap it out for Tremec 6060 6-speed after the Syncro's went out on the 5-speed

These images are from when I 1st brought it home in November 2016, I have sense recessed the grills to give it a different look.

Here is a shot off my phone to the recessed grills I spoke about. Taken this November on one of the last nice top down days of the year

Nice. There was a write up on the Mallett cars in HPP.   Did you see that?

The other Solstice I have is the Orange 2009 Coupe I bought at the start of the Covid lockdown last year. 2.4 non Turbo, 5-speed manual, with the optional Soft top. Not as exiting to drive as the V8 Car but I could not pass up the deal for a very rare car that was local to me. The guy in the photo is not me but the seller, I wish I was that Young & Skinny!!!!! The original owner had started making the car look like a Street edition Coupe (that Pontiac never Made) so he added the Stripe that I think works very well on the car. He also added a Solo header, high flow Cat & Cat back exhaust, Fresh air intake, and had it tuned for those parts. Stock it is 177 hp to the flywheel, the Chassis dyno slip he gave me showed 196 hp to the rear wheels, so a worth while upgrade IMO.
